Risen is an action dungeon crawler that I created for the Minimalist Jam. In it, you'll have to fight your way through the dungeon in order to escape. After defeating enemies, you'll be able to take their abilities. Using craftiness and skill, you'll have to make your way to the end.

Based on titles like Kirby and ZeldaRisen is a game I had been conceptualizing for a while. I'd already begun thinking of a narrative to go with the game and different bosses and game mechanics. However, the hardest part was starting. When I saw this game jam, I saw my chance to begin working. This was just a prototype made for the game jam and I fully intend to return to this idea once I have developed my skills a bit.

Throughout the project I coded many new things. I learned how to code a functioning power up system and assign different skills to each form. I also coded more complex AI then I had ever done before. For the art, I used stick figures to go with the minimalist style. The music I used were both pieces that I had made before. The title screen music was called Ruin and the in game music was called Gargantuan.
